Baby, it’s cold
outside. And when the weather turns
cold, we like to light a fire and stay inside.
Or have a party!
This past weekend
we threw a gaming party with some friends featuring our new LeapTV from
LeapFrog. LeapTV is one of the hottest
toys this Christmas and after dancing and playing all day with it, I can see
why!
LeapTV is a new
educational, active video gaming system built specifically for kids ages 3-8
years. Kids learn through motion as they
dance, twirl, run (in place), and jump through engaging and entertaining
activities that will help teach them reading, math, science, and problem
solving skills.
The LeapTV system
is small and the handheld controller is a perfect fit for those little
hands.
And the console was extremely
easy to set up – which I was thrilled about! I am terrible atsetting things
like this up but even I, the queen of plugging cords into the wrong
outlets, was able to get it up and running in less than five minutes.
After setting the
system up, you have the option to choose your child’s age. While playing the LeapTV games, this
innovative new product self-adjusted my son’s age to their expected abilities.
And if the kiddo gets stuck, the LeapTV controller’s hint button helps the child understand the level.
Games and Videos
While video games
are normally on a time limit in the Topinka house, I’m more apt to let me
children play awhile longer with the LeapTV – which means mama gets more dishes
done! The games that come with the LeapTV gets my kids up and moving all while
helping them learn. My boys are being taught and they don’t even know it! And
with games featuring some of their favorite characters like: Jake and the
Neverland Pirates, Bubble Guppies, Sofia the First, Marvel’s Ultimate
Spiderman, Pixar, etc … the fun is endless!
What’s in the Box?
Upon opening the
LeapTV box, inside you’ll find:
- LeapFrog LeapTV video game system
- Console Stand
- Motion Sensing Camera
- Camera Mount
- 1-transforming controller with wrist strap
- HDMI cable
- Camera Cord

- Bonus Game - "Pet Play World" - upon registering
Snack break! It's the snack of champions for gamers, right? |
Questions you may have?
1. Does the
system come with any games?
Yes – upon
entering parent account registration, you will get Pet Play World. All other games are sold separately.
2. How do you
call a video game, “educational”?
All of the games
for LeapTV are specially designed by learning experts. They kept children’s
developmental needs and milestones in mind when creating this innovative new
product. And by using popular characters to help teach the child, it keeps them
entertained all while having learning fun.
3. Can more than
one child play at a time?
Yes. At the
beginning of each game we had the option to choose how many people were
playing.
4. What if my
child can’t read?
I will be honest,
my 3-year-old and a couple 4-year-old’s at the party had a really hard time
with some of the games – especially when it came to the math problems. But with
a little help from mom and dad, they were able to figure it out and learn at
the same time!
And for kid’s who
can’t quite read, the LeapTV games include audio instructions to read the
directions for them. Mama can STILL get some dishes done!!
If you’re looking
for a Christmas gift for a child age 3-8, I don’t think you can go wrong with
the LeapTV. It’s one of those gifts that keeps on giving. Your child will be happy about his new toy …
and mama can be happy with whatever she chooses to do.
Follow the LeapTV and #MommyParties touts on Twitter to keep up with their current
happenings. And follow them here on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well!
Disclosure: I
received a free product in order to host a LeapFrog sponsored party. However,
this did not influence my opinion in any way.
Because as you know… The
Procrastinating Mommy cannot be bought!
