No More Excuses, Amanda!

This is me .... year after year ....
(and yes, I did draw this beautiful picture via paint. Not only am I a blogger, a photographer, a fashionista, and a baker ... but I am also an artist.  What's that?  Opposite Day was yesterday?  Oh ... well .... blah)
--click the pic and i think it will make it larger--

But I gotta make some changes.  If not for me ... for my boys.  They just aren't slowing down anytime soon.

Rocket Racer and Superman

One of my favorite times of the day is when my little boys settle down to get ready for bed.  And it's not because I finally get time with my husband.  It's my favorite time of the day because it's the one thing I have control over during the day.  They have a strict bedtime and they have a routine.  It's what works for them and what works for us.  We eat supper, they play with Daddy (and me if I'm not working), I give them their baths, we play, we read LOTS of books, take vitamins, brush teeth, say prayers, and then put them to bed.  It's so special to me.  I love hearing what and who Cash is going to pray about.  Nana and Mia are always in the prayer somewhere.  But then there's things thrown in like, "Thank you God for spaghetti tonight, it was really good."  or  "Dear God, please help me find my Optimus Prime tomorrow."  And it's just the sweetest, most innocent little thing in the world.

My favorite prayer yet is one Cash said a few months back:  "Dear God, thank you for Mommy and Chrissy and Daddy. They are my best fwenz and I'm glad that you picked me to be their widdle boy.  And pwease don't let Chrissy be bigger than me because I wuv to hode him and if he's bigger than me then I won't be able too anymore."
If only Cash knew how many times I have prayed the same thing about HIM.

Here is my favorite song that is MY song for my little boys.  They don't have their "own" song.  They share a song.  And it's our "special" song.  Cash knows that it's his song from me.  And soon Christopher will too.

"Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)

"Dragon tales and the "water is wide"
Pirate's sail and lost boys fly
Fish bite moonbeams every night
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

The rocket racer's all tuckered out --> (Christopher)
Superman's in pajamas on the couch --> (Cash)
Goodnight moon, will find the mouse --> Our favorite night-night story
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

God bless mommy and match box cars
God bless dad and thanks for the stars
God hears "Amen," wherever we are
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Godspeed
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

I'm thinking about renaming my blog:  "Rocket Racer and Superman"

To Worry or Not To Worry

F. Scott Fitzgerald was one of the major American writers of the twentieth century - a figure whose life and works embodied powerful myths about our national dreams and aspirations.  The American writer battled many demons in his day. The father of one struggled openly with alcoholism, a schizophrenic wife, and the overarching suspicion that he was never really talented.  You may know F. Scott Fitzgerald most for, "The Great Gatsby".  A near-masterpiece.

My love for reading is one of the lesser known facts people know about me.  I will give just about any book a shot as long as the first three pages hold my attention.  One of these days I'll post my top 10 books on my blog.  I think you'll be surprised at what I have on my list.

Anyway, as I was doing some research on the internet about books, I came across a list.  Well, a letter and then a list.

In 1933, F. Scott Fitzgerald ended a letter to his 11-year-old daughter, Scottie, with a list of things to worry about, not worry about, and simply think about. It read as follows.
Things to worry about:
Worry about courage
Worry about cleanliness
Worry about efficiency
Worry about horsemanship

Things not to worry about:

Don’t worry about popular opinion
Don’t worry about dolls
Don’t worry about the past
Don’t worry about the future
Don’t worry about growing up
Don’t worry about anybody getting ahead of you
Don’t worry about triumph
Don’t worry about failure unless it comes through your own fault
Don’t worry about mosquitoes
Don’t worry about flies
Don’t worry about insects in general
Don’t worry about parents
Don’t worry about boys
Don’t worry about disappointments
Don’t worry about pleasures
Don’t worry about satisfactions

Things to think about:
What am I really aiming at?
How good am I really in comparison to my contemporaries in regard to:
(a) Scholarship
(b) Do I really understand about people and am I able to get along with them?
(c) Am I trying to make my body a useful instrument or am I neglecting it?

With dearest love,

Daddy

I'm thinking about writing my own list for my boys.  Especially for Cash, my little worrier.  Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.  It's also a saying that I, myself, need to embrace.

Googling And Me

I was just checking the stats on my blog and came across some funny things....

Blogger shows you how people came across your blog .... whether it's via Facebook or Top Mommy Blogs or Picket Fence, etc etc.  It also shows what people Googled, which then brought about my blog, which they then decided to click on and read....

Here are some things people typed in to Google that pulled up my blog.  I can explain all of them but one....

"Nutella is the devil" - It is.  There is no doubt about that.
"Ryan Gosling hot pictures" - We all know my love affair with this man and if you want to share some hot pictures of him with me ... I won't be upset  :::wink wink:::
"Keeper of the Plains pictures" - My family did a staycation and visited KOTP.
"Mommy juice, best wine for stay-at-home Moms" - I'm speechless.  But in a way, kind of proud.
"Mom of boys that are ornery, what do i do" - HA HA!  I hope they came up with the answer to that, because I sure as hell haven't.  I have a TON of posts on how ornery my little boys are.  So I just picked the first one I found.
and then there's this one...

"Lord jesus grant that my spouse" - WTH have I blogged about that people have typed in this sentence into google that then brought my blog up.  Lord Jesus grant that my spouse bring me home some ice cream?  some pinot?  Lord Jesus grant that my spouse did all the dishes, laundry, mopped, and dusted?
WHAT?  LOL!!  Poor Cale.

Also,
I have 55 readers from the Philippines.
