It’s not every day that I get to give away $2,000.00. But for a limited time, I am.
That’s right, $1,000 for you … and $1000 for
someone you care about. I don’t care if
it’s for your dad, your brother, uncle, husband, grandpa, friend, cousin, etc. If there is a special man in your life that
you want to keep around, PLEASE think about signing them up below.
$1000.00 for you + $1000.00 for your loved one +
better health and peace of mind = A WINNING PROMISE!
Why?
Cancer doesn’t care if you’re a man or a women, a
dad or a mom, whether you’re young or you’re old. It doesn’t care whether you’re kind or a good
person.
My {now} father-in-law was diagnosed with
prostate cancer a few years before I met my husband. It’s not something either one of them care to
talk about so I don’t know what lead up to the initial check-up but I do know
that he beat the cancer due to having a healthy relationship with his doctor
who made sure Carl’s concerns were answered.
Most cancers (like prostate cancer) result from genetic changes that occur over decades
within the cells of a particular organ. These changes can usually be traced to
an interaction of genetics and the
environment, including behavior and lifestyle. Other factors that influence
cancer risk are age, race, gender, preexisting disease, and nutritional
impairment.
A
few symptoms
Every year that my husband has a birthday, I can’t
help but worry about him a little bit more. He uses the restroom frequently –
he says because he drinks so much water.
He is tired quite often – he says because his legs are bothering him at
night. Which then leads me to ask if
it’s the bones in his legs. I feel I
have legitimate concerns for worry. We
have two very young boys who need him more than anything. And I won’t even get
into how selfishly I need him.
Prostate cancer is the second most
common cancer among men in the United States.
According to The American Cancer Society, one in
every six men is affected by prostate cancer.
And the fact that my father-in-law has had prostate cancer, makes me
question how early I can have my husband screened. Is now too soon?
The answer is NO.
How
to get that screening
Clinical parameters, such as PSA, will
continue to serve as the standard measurement for prostate cancer severity, but
they do not measure the true hallmark of cancer—cell proliferation.
Prolaris, a novel genetic test for
prostate cancer from Myriad Genetic Laboratories, combines traditional risk
factors with a molecular assessment of the aggressiveness of an individual
patient’s cancer. Prolaris provides unique information about a patient’s cancer
and can help doctors and patients make the most informed treatment decisions.
Prolaris
wants more survivors and better treatment.
Why Prostate Cancer?
1.2 million biopsies a year lead to
240,000 prostate cancer diagnoses and 30,000 deaths. Prostate cancer is the 2nd
leading cause of cancer related death in the United States. Since women tend to
take the dominant role in health care and screening in their homes, we want
them to be more educated about Prostate cancer and in turn, to educate their
loved ones.
