The Love Dare for Parents Review & Giveaway

My husband and I are always questioning whether or not we’re raising our boys the right way and doing the right thing. We make promises to quit raising our voices and offer more communication and understandings. We’ve made sure that our boys know what it means to pray and that even though it may not seem like it at the time, God is ALWAYS paying attention and listening. To us, it’s a great bonding experience to have conversations about God and the power of prayer. But just because we talk often about Him, doesn’t make us good parents. And we’re definitely works in progress!

So when I found out that I was going to have the chance to review "The Love Dare for Parents "by Stephen Kendrick and Alex Kendrick thanks to BH Publishing Group, I couldn’t wait to receive my copy and get started with the challenge! The Kendrick brothers are the makers behind the films Fireproof and Fly Wheel and are authors of the New York Time’s best seller "The Love Dare" – which has sold more than 5 million copies!

"The Love Dare for Parents" is based around one single scripture: "He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents." ~Malachi 4:6
As a parent, this is what we long for with our children.

Regardless of whether you feel your relationship with your child(ren) is beyond repair. Whether your child(ren) are away at college or are going off to preschool, I urge you to take this challenge/dare.

The Love Dare for Parents is a 40-day journey of "dares" challenging one or both parents to understand, practice, and communicate Christ-like love to their children. Each day includes:
  • a promising key verse from Scripture
  • a biblical principle about love that applies to parenting
  • a specific challenge the parent does for the sake of their child
  • space to journal thoughts and reflect on what happened that day
Upon purchasing the book, parents can even access a FREE online parenting assessment, helpfully keyed to select material in the book.

My husband and I are about a week in with this challenge (I have a hard time calling to a book) and I can tell you, with all truth, it has calmed me down as a parent and has taught me patience – something that, anyone that knows me can attest to this – I am horrible at displaying. I’m not sure yet about the strength of my bond between my boys, but it’s helping me to better myself, which in turn, will hopefully help me be a better parent.

I am very excited to begin this journey towards bettering my relationship with not only my children, but also with God. You can follow along with me and my journey by using the hashtag #LoveDare4Parents on Facebook and Twitter as well as other Procrastinating Mommy readers.

I hope you’ll check back in with me periodically during the 40-day challenge and see how I’m doing!
