SEA LIFE Aquarium in KC Debuts "SEA LIFE Academy"

Ever felt an alive Sea Star or a Sea Urchin or come nose to nose with a shark? I have. And you can too at the SEA LIFE Aquarium next to LEGOLAND in Crown Center.

SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium opened in April 2012. SEA LIFE Kansas City takes visitors on an enthralling two hour journey from the fresh waters of the Missouri River, into the mighty Mississippi River then out into the warm blue coral strewn waters of the Caribbean Sea, ending in the deep dark abyss of the Atlantic Ocean. Prepare for astonishingly close views of everything from humble starfish and seahorses to graceful rays. In addition, a stunning centerpiece is a huge tropical ocean tank with a walk-through underwater tunnel. To get any closer you’d have to get wet!

What’s new at SEA LIFE?
SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium is adding a new learning opportunity to its ever-changing attraction, called SEA LIFE Academy. SEA LIFE Academy’s first class will be Squid Anatomy.
The Squid Anatomy class provides guests with a special look at the ins and outs of a squid. Guests will work with a partner to dissect one of these amazing Cephalopods.
Guests can explore the anatomy of this creature to learn what makes it a great escape artist and a formidable deep sea hunter. 

"SEA LIFE Academy is a great learning opportunity for kids and their parents when they visit the attraction," says Mendy Rose, marketing manager for SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium.

SEA LIFE Academy will change classes throughout the year. SEA LIFE Academy is available on weekdays, Monday through Friday. Three timeslots are available each day at 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The class can hold up to 20 people per session and will last approximately 30 minutes. This class is recommended for ages six and up.

The cost for SEA LIFE Academy will be $5 plus tax per person with SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium admission. Admission for SEA LIFE Academy is on a first come, first serve basis.
